Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program at the DBT Institute of Michigan is a comprehensive and innovative program designed to help address the struggles of adults and adolescents and their families who have severe mental health disorders. We offer a total restorative environment in which clients will receive compassionate, effective and Evidence-Based treatment by highly trained staff.

With a unique focus on intensive and comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) we have developed a modern and integrated program that will enable clients to begin their journey to a life worth living.
For many people, standard outpatient DBT is enough and there are times when more is needed. The following reasons would include:

» To avoid hospitalization and other higher levels of care.
» When you want or need more rapid progress.
» As a step-down from a higher level of care, like hospitalization or residential treatment.
» To have greater structure and support than is usually available through standard outpatient care.
» When you have time constraints and need to receive more treatment in fewer weeks (e.g., returning to school or work) or other challenges (e.g., have childcare challenges, have to commute a long way for treatment).
» When your problems are more complex, severe, and potentially life-threatening and require more frequent care.
Our approach to treatment is personalized and each client’s treatment will be built around their individualized needs. Treatment is delivered in the comfort of our facility and with therapists who have made their office space warm and inviting. Our hope is to increase mindfulness practice, tolerating distressing events and situations, regulating emotions by understanding their purpose and increasing effective communication and provide a comfortable surrounding that invites introspection in a safe and therapeutic manner.
